Jagmoc back at CH as consultant

CEBU, Philippines – Former Cebu City councilor Edwin Jagmoc is going back to the City Hall, but this time, only as a consultant on public services of Mayor Michael Rama.

Jagmoc served in the council for two consecutive terms but did not run for his last term during the May elections due to financial reasons. He has however foreseen that he will be hired as consultant by the city.

During last Friday's regular session, the city council approved the resolution authorizing Rama to enter into a contract of services with Jagmoc as consultant of the city to the Department of Public Services.

Jagmoc was the choice of the Bids and Awards Committee because of his experience in the field.

"Jagmoc, being a public servant is without equal and his services will help the department in achieving its goals and objectives through formulation of programs and actions related to garbage collection, street lighting, tubig projects, and other executive functions of the office," said councilor Noel Wenceslao, proponent of the resolution.

His contract shall be retroactive since November 1. He will receive P18,000 monthly remuneration.

When Jagmoc gave up his slot at the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, many wondered and linked his decision to the controversy he got involved with in the middle of 2009.

Jagmoc was rumored to have an affair with a city hall employee, a member of the Mayor's Management Team, which he vehemently denied.

The opposition also alleged that he did not run because the BOPK junked him which he and the members of the administration party also denied.

Jagmoc joins three other former councilors, Sylvan Jakosalem, Gerardo Carillo and Nestor Archival, who were also hired by the city as consultants in their respective fields of expertise.

Jakosalem is now the Chairman of the City Traffic Operations Management Board while Archival is consultant on environment and point person for the city's Bus Rapid Transit project. Carillo is consultant on education and disasters management. (FREEMAN)
