Korean call center owner hangs self
CEBU, Philippines - Financial problems allegedly prompted a Korean owner of a call center company to hang himself to death inside his rented room on Don Gil Garcia St., Cebu City.
Police said Cho Dong Sun a.k.a “Jong Dongseon,” 46, a native of Seoul, South Korea, was found by his staff, Riza Ramos, hanging from his room’s closet using an electric cord at 5:40 a.m. yesterday.
Ramos said that around midnight she and the victim, who were sharing the same room at the pension house, were together in a Korean restaurant at the Asia Town IT Park but she left him to meet her brother in Basak San Nicolas for an important matter.
When she went to their room hours later, Ramos said she called Dongseon several time but he was not answering. This prompted her to ask the guard of the pension house to open the room using the duplicate key.
Ramos said she was shocked when she saw Dongseon already hanging lifeless from the room’s closet. She immediately phoned the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation for assistance.
During an interrogation, Ramos admitted that her boss has been distressed for quite some time concerning his business finances.
According to the police, Dongseon owned Kedutech Call Canter located at D. Jakosalem corner Sikatuna Streets, Cebu City.
In an interview with The FREEMAN, Cebu City Police Office homicide investigator, PO2 Judan Batucan said they recovered what appeared to be a suicide note from the victim’s room that detailed his problems on his call canter business and some big loans that he had.
The police were also convinced that the Korean national committed suicide because they saw no sign of struggle that would suggest foul, adding everything inside the room was in order.
The victim’s remains were taken to Cebu rolling Hills for autopsy and proper disposition. (FREEMAN)
