Man shot, suffers injury on his genitals

CEBU, Philippines – A man sustained injury on his genital after he was shot by a videoke operator yesterday dawn in Katipunan Street, Labangon.

The bullet of an unknown caliber used by Robert Panaranda grazed Jason Abanes' sex organ before it went through his thigh. Abanes had just alighted from a taxi cab together with his friend Reynante Sayson when Panaranda approached them and shoot the victim.

The victim and Sayson came from Punta Princesa Police Station because they were invited for investigation based on a complaint for alleged extortion filed by the suspect against them.

They were however allowed to leave by the police because Panaranda did not show interest to pursue his complaint.

However, Panaranda followed the victim from the police station and shot him as he alighted from the taxi after arriving home.

Panaranda, resident of Tayud, Consolacion but operates a videoke and a convenience store in Labangon, immediately fled after shooting Abanes.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted by the police but failed to locate the suspect. The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is currently recuperating. (FREEMAN)
