Jilted man commits suicide

CEBU, Philippines – A broken love affair prompted a 20-year-old man to end his life inside his room on Wednesday around 12:20 p.m. at Sitio San Pedro, Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Rodel Casas was already hanging lifeless when his father saw him. He tied a five-meter electrical wire on his neck. His father, Sonny Casas, knocked on the door and called his son for lunch. When he did not get an answer, he forcefully opened the door and found Rodel hanging.

SPO2 Alex Dacua said it is possible that Rodel was undergoing depression because of a failed relationship.

"Iyang uyab nikuyog man kuno ug lain," Dacua told The FREEMAN. (His girlfriend left him for someone else.)

Sonny told the police that the girlfriend left his son a couple of months ago.  

The neighbors of the victim described him as the silent type. Rodel was living alone with his father in a shanty while his sister works as a housemaid. (FREEMAN)
