- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines – Anticipating a number of people to flock to the cemeteries, all law enforcement agencies in the different municipalities and component cities in the province are now implementing tight security measures to have a safe and peaceful observance of the All Souls' and All Saints' days.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director, Supt. Erson Digal, has instructed all chiefs of police in the province to deploy enough personnel at the cemeteries and to put up Police Assistance Centers for the people to go to when they need help.

Digal said there are also district supervisors assigned to take charge of the personnel deployed in line with the observance of the event. Supt. Edwardo Saavedra will take charge of the northern part of Cebu, Supt. Tito Satera for the south and Sr. Insp. Allan Cuizon for the second district.

According to him, since they are still on a red alert status after the newly concluded elections, he will be roving around the province from south to north to assure peace in every municipality.

"Basin naa pay dumot tungod kay bago pa ang election maong dili lang gyud ta mokompiyansa," Digal told The FREEMAN.

He said the Comelec gun ban will still to end on November 10 and there will still be random checkpoints in different areas in the province.

PO1 Darwin Melodia of Ronda Police Station said six of their personnel will be dispatched today but there will still be additional personnel depending on the situation.

In Bogo, SPO3 Rolando Torcido said more than 30 personnel will be equally dispatched among the four cemeteries of the town including a medical assistance team.

SPO1 Oliver Dacua of Talisay City Police Station also said out of their total 60 personnel, 24 will be dispatched equally among the three cemeteries in the city while the remaining 36 will be on roving. (FREEMAN)
