CEBU, Philippines - Three men on a motorcycle robbed yesterday afternoon a hardware store in Mandaue City taking with them not much cash since the store’s workers had just been paid their wages.
Police said one of the men served as a look-out and driver of their motorcycle while the two other men went inside the store and herded the workers into a storeroom.
After scooping the money in the cashier’s booth, the men fled towards Hernan Cortes Street.
Storeowner David Tan said the robbers could not have taken a lot because his workers had just received their wages.
While the robbery was in progress, two employees who were at the second floor, soon learned about it and threw a flower pot at the robbers, hitting their motorcycle.
One of the robbers retaliated by firing at the workers. No one was hit.
A tricycle driver had called the police after seeing frantic employees waving at him.
The robbers had covered their faces with t-shirts.
Yesterday’s robbery was the third one this month to be committed in Mandaue City.
Earlier this month, the LBC courier services and the Banco Maximo were also robbed. (THE FREEMAN)
