Security guard wounded in Talisay robbery

CEBU, Philippines - A security guard ended up injured on the head when he tried to stop a robbery at the internet café he was guarding in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City dawn yesterday.

Ernie Roy Ayok, 21, was wounded on the forehead when one of the suspects struck him with a gun, as the security guard was trying to wrestle away the firearm of the other robber.

Investigation revealed that Ayok, a security guard of Diamon 7 Security and Investigation Services, was manning Nemeño Reach.Com, an internet café owned by one Ryan Nadela, a resident of Barangay San Roque in Talisay.

Two men, described as skinny and about 30 years old, arrived around 3am on board a motorcycle and pretended to be customers. Minutes later, the two declared a hold-up, one of whom pointed a gun at Ayok.

Ayok attempted to grab the gun from the suspect, but the latter’s companion struck Ayok with his gun on the forehead, which made the security guard lose focus.

The robbers then took away Ayok’s .38 revolver and successfully carted away the café’s earnings amounting to P1,300.

Ayok later sought police assistance, but authorities could no longer locate the suspects. (THE FREEMAN)
