Sen. Cayetano gives P250,000 educational aid for Cebu City, Danao students

-

CEBU, Philippines – Senator Pia Cayetano recently released P250,000 from her Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to the poor but deserving students of the cities of Cebu and Danao in the form of Educational Assistance Funds.

Twenty youth from Danao City and 50 others from Cebu City have started receiving the cash assistance as additional support for their school needs like school supplies, projects, clothing/uniform and others.

The identified college students from Danao received P5,000 each while beneficiaries from Cebu City got P3,000 each as they are only enrolled in vocational courses.

Chesna Paula Senining, one of the aid's beneficiaries, said aside from providing for their educational needs, the senator's fund has also helped her family needs like food and clothing.

In Danao, selection of beneficiaries, who are mostly members of the local Pag- Asa Youth Associations, started with interview and assessment, qualifying examination, gathering of supporting documents from barangays and schools, and actual provision of educational assistance.

Most of the student beneficiaries from Danao City are currently enrolled in government state universities and vocational schools based in the town of Carmen, Cebu and the cities of Cebu and Danao like the Cebu Technological University.

Most of the students are taking up short term vocational courses like Computer Literacy and Programming, cosmetology, refrigeration and air conditioning, electronics application, and culinary arts. - /WAB (FREEMAN)
