Man shot, dies from lose of blood, companion hurt

-

CEBU, Philippines – A man died due to loss of blood while his 17-year-old companion landed in hospital after they were shot dawn yesterday by two unidentified persons in sitio Mananga, barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

Abelito Cabuenas Lopez, 23, was hit on the right leg while Dola Jason Andola was shot in the back and is in hospital.

PO2 Henry Mata, said Lopez and Andola were watching a group of men playing billiards at around 12:50 a.m. yesterday, when two men for no apparent reason fired at them.

Andola was immediately taken to the Talisay City District Hospital but due to his condition he was immediately transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Mata said Lopez was not taken to the hospital immediately after he was shot because he was afraid to be killed so he hid in one of the houses in the area.

At around 1 a.m., Lopez decided to ask for help but because it was already past 12, no neighbors heeded his call afraid that someone might attack them.

It was his mother who brought him to the Talisay City District Hospital but he died on the way. Police theorized that Lopez must have lost lots of blood.

Mata said Lopez and Andola were alledged friends of Ferdinand Santos a.k.a "Nanan" and Oliver Honor, alleged robbers in Talisay and are suspected of having killed one Richard Sarip Friday dawn when Talisay was celebrating its annual fiesta. - Mellanie C.
