CEBU, Philippines – The Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday adopted a resolution requesting Mayor Paz Radaza for funds to finance the "Garbo sa Lapu-Lapu Festival" on November 18.

Council president Leo Mercado the other day presented the resolution.

Although no specific amount was specified, the barangay captains said it is up to the mayor to determine the amount.

Barangays are expected to have their contingents and floats to join and the 10th "Garbo."

Before the festival is to start, a parade will be held at 1 p.m.

The festival would be one of the highlights of the fiesta which is celebrated in honor of the Virgen dela Regla every November 20 and 21.

The parade will start from the Lapu-Lapu City Central School grounds.

Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Leo Mercado, chairman of this year's activity, said the festival would be promoting the local tourism.

Mercado said the parade will have floats with dancing contingents that will depict and exhibit the rich culture of every barangay in the city.

Former mayor and now lone district of Lapu-Lapu Rep. Arturo Radaza introduced the festival in 2000 in coordination with the ABC, Sangguniang Kabataan, and Fiesta Executive Committee chairman now Mayor Paz Radaza.

According to Mercado, the "Garbo" festival contributes to the development of the city.

He said it will be different from other festivals in the country.
