"Tiempo Gang" also operated in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines – The six members of the Tiempo Gang who operated in Cebu City and who were arrested last Saturday by men from the Cebu City Police Office had also struck in Mandaue City.

Being detained are Shiela Mae Coton,19, Arlene Cortes, 38, both from Bohol, Jomar Aloria, 25, Elaine Buenaventura, 24, and Jonathan Pitao, all from Davao, and a 12-year-old juvenile who led the police to his group last Saturday evening.

SPO1 Arnulfo Quiachon Jr. of the IDMB yesterday said the suspects were turned over to their office yesterday morning but no complainants from Cebu City have been filed against them.

The suspects were turned over to the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office after they were recognized by Nanette Cortes Bowler, a relative of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, as the ones who stole her bag while she was dining in a restaurant along the Reclamation Area last September 30, Quiachon said.

Nanette Cortes Bowler, who is an official of the Kaabag Foundation, said the suspects are the ones who stole her bag while she was eating together with her friends inside a restaurant in a mall at the Reclamation Area.

Bowler reported the incident to the police.

Bowler's bag contained a wallet where she kept her passport, US Green Card Visa, P8,000, and a cellular phone worth P30,000.

None of the things mentioned was recovered.

Quiachon said the group had thrown her passport and visa into a vacant lot in barangay Banilad city.

A theft case was filed against the suspects. (FREEMAN)
