Man killed in bike crash

CEBU, Philippines - A man died after his driven motorcycle hit a rock while negotiating on a steep road in Sitio Kamandang, Barangay Teguis, Poro, Camotes Island Friday morning.

Polecarpio Pelicano, of legal age and resident of Barangay Cagcagan sustained severe head and body injuries after he was thrown away from his motorcycle. The victim was allegedly on his way to the town of San Francisco when the accident happened.

PO1 Gabriel Guinocor said that Pelicano, while traversing a steep road, allegedly turned the engine of his motorcycle off. But minutes later, the victim lost his brakes and failed to control his vehicle. This allegedly caused him to hit a rock on the side of road throwing him away from his motorcycle.

Police said Pelicano suffered from a broken skull after a hard object, probably a rock, hit his head.

The victim was allegedly not wearing his helmet when the accident happened. He was rushed to the San Francisco Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.    (FREEMAN NEWS)
