Tanod found dead at Barili falls canteen

CEBU, Philippines – A tanod of Barangay Mantayupan in Barili town was found dead inside a cooperative-run canteen at the Mantayupan Falls dawn yesterday.

Investigation revealed that the casualty, Maximo Ricablanca, 34, was on duty and had drinks with fellow tanod Agapito Pantillan at the canteen hours before the incident. Pantillan reportedly left Ricablanca and went to the barangay hall to bring food to other tanods there.

Pantillan went back to the canteen at the falls around 4:30 pm and found Ricablanca already sprawled on the floor. Police said Pantillan thought Ricablanca was just intoxicated and fell to the ground until he saw blood on the floor when he tried to help him up. Ricablanca was also no longer breathing. (FREEMAN)
