Media groups award 4 Cebuano officials

-

CEBU, Philippines – At least four Cebuano officials will receive awards from four different media organizations during tonight's culmination of the Cebu Press Freedom Month celebration.

The awardees are of Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD) partylist Rep. Pastor "Jun" Alcover, Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy and his son, Provincial Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy.

The awards come from the Sugboanong Komentaristang Nagpakabana (SUKNA), Inc., Cebu Association of Media Practitioners (CAMP), Inc., Cebu Tri-Media Association (CTMA), Inc. and the Visayas Media Association (VMA), Inc.

The awardees happened to be members of these media associations. Alcover is the president of CAMP, Fernandez is a director and religious adviser of SUKNA, Mayor Sitoy is the president emeritus of SUKNA and PB Member Sitoy is the immediate past president of SUKNA.

Having been in the media industry, the awardees excelled in their endeavors in the field of public service.

Alcover is yet to take back his seat in Congress pending proclamation of the remaining partylists, including ANAD, which won in the May 2010 elections.

Alcover will be the keynote speaker in the event, which will be held at Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City.

The four media organizations celebrated the Cebu Press Freedom Month with the theme, "The role of media in times of crisis." (FREEMAN)
