CEBU, Philippines – A 54-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was riding on fell off a cliff in Sitio Cabadiangan, Barangay Lunop, Boljoon, southern Cebu last Saturday afternoon.

The fatality was identified as Mauricio Fegarido Sr., 54 who sustained fatal injuries to the different parts of his body.

The motorcycle was driven by his son, Mauricio Fegarido Jr., 32. Both are residents of Sitio Camp Franco, Barangay Lower Beserill.

They fell over a cliff estimated to be 15 feet deep and landed where there were many rocks.

Investigation revealed that the two came from a fiesta in Sitio Cabadiangan when the accident occurred.

PO1 Michael Anciano told The FREEMAN that the two were not wearing helmets. The Suzuki Krystal 110 motorcycle with plate number GX-9583 was not registered and Fegarido Jr. does not have a driver's license.

Anciano said that the two were a bit drunk from the fiesta.

Fegarido Jr. lost control over the motorcycle and failed to take a turn.

"Purus kurbada man gud ang kalsada sa maong lugar. Nawalan ug control ang driver human wala siya kaliko sa usa ka kurbada mao nilahus unya natagak sila," Anciano added. (They were traveling downhill on a winding road and he failed to make a turn and went straight over the cliff.)

Anciano also said that the place where it happened does not have trees or barriers.

Witnesses told the police that the motorcycle was traveling fast.

Fegarido Sr. was rushed to the Boljoon District Hospital but died on the way while his son was taken to the rural health center and was transferred to a hospital in the Cebu City because his injuries were severe. (FREEMAN)
