Workshop to teach festival organizers

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu Provincial Tourism and Heritage Council created the Festival Management Workshop that will teach festival organizers and choreographers how to come up with the best production design.

Junjet Primor, CPTHC vice chairman of committee of arts and culture, said that a festival should describe the identity of the town, which most of the contestants during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo or at other festival contests failed to present.

Primor said a production design can either make or destroy the contingent. "They forgot that everything should coincides kay lain man pud kayo if ang tao sa lugar dili kahibaw sa ilang kaugalingong festival."

Production design which includes the elements of choreography has the 3Vs: visual impact, volume and viva federation.

There is also the so-called 3Cs: cut, cloth, and color which affects the presentation.

"All of these include the rich color of the production and it does not mean also that many can not defeat the less. It is a matter of how you will perform," Primor said.

He explains that a festival should have a theme that fits the concept of the town.

The province plans to invite the members of the council on October 1 to discuss on the handling of production design. (FREEMAN)
