Joavan's alleged cop ally not with Talisay police
CEBU, Philippines – Guillermina Barredo, who claimed to be a former security guard of Joavan Fernandez, controversial son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, did not find the po-licewoman who allegedly dealt in drugs with Joavan in the Talisay City roster.
Barredo said this after Talisay City Police Station chief Supt. Henry Biñas showed her the files of the policewomen assigned to Talisay City. Barredo earlier said a cer-tain Rosalie Flores was dealing drugs with Joavan.
The Talisay City Police has three regular female officers and five under Field Training Program.
As of last Friday, Barredo was still under the custody of the Talisay City Police Station after reportedly receiving threats from Joavan.
Biñas said that she was to be transferred to the Cebu Provincial Police Office yesterday afternoon.
Barredo squealed shortly after the Pardo police arrested Joavan's friend Benedict Gabasa for driving a government-issued Toyota Revo, Mayor Fernandez's former service vehicle, without a license.
Police chased the car which was believed to have carried Joavan, a female companion and some friends. Joavan was earlier accused of pointing a gun at a mall's secu-rity guard, but only Gabasa was arrested when the car was finally caught in Pardo.
Joavan and his friends reportedly got off the vehicle in barangay Bulacao.
Police reportedly found inside the said car a shoulder bag, a tissue rolled into wicks, a syringe, a digital weighing scale, two empty Nubain ampoules, four disposable lighters, a rolled tin foil, license plate numbers and four empty small plastic packs.
Later that day, a certain Rosalie Flores went to the police station to claim the shoulder bag, but police did not give it to her.
Biñas said he believes that Barredo may have just heard the name from someone. He said there is no policewoman in the station with that name. (FREEMAN)
