Lapu-Lapu congratulates city's contestant in "Mutya"

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-lapu City Council, through a resolution, has congratulated and commended Lapu-Lapu resident Sharon Grace Angel for having emerged second runner up and as Miss Photogenic and Top Model in the recently concluded Mutya ng Pilipinas 2010 held last September 4 in Manila.

The Mutya Ng Pilipinas was participated by 24 candidates.

Angel will represent the country in the forthcoming Top Model of the World 2010 in Germany.

The city council resolution also said that Angel deserves to be congratulated and commended for a job well done and the pride and recognition she has brought to the city has made her fellow Oponganons proud.

"Because of the remarkable achievement and honor she has brought to the city being the first ever Oponganon who won such award in a major event like Mutya ng Pilipinas, the City Mayor Paz Radaza appointed her (Angel) as the new Tourism Ambassador of the City of Lapu-Lapu," the resolution said.

The city council added that Angel's representation as Miss Lapu-Lapu City to the recently concluded Mutya Ng Pilipinas 2010 showcased the cultural and historical background of the city and promoted it as a premier tourist destination in the country. (THE FREEMAN)
