Woman falls in Danao drug bust

CEBU, Philippines – A 50-year-old woman is now facing illegal drug charges after she was arrested in a buy bust operation on Olivar Street, Barangay Poblacion, Danao City Wednesday evening.

Berla Laude, resident of the place, was caught handing over a sachet of believed to be shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P500.

Operatives of the Cebu Provincial Police Office-Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (PAIDSO-TG) led by SPO4 Ernesto Navales in coordina-tion with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 (PDEA) conducted a buy bust operation after receiving information about the illegal activity of Laude.

One of the police officers, who acted as poseur buyer, negotiated with the suspect for the sale of P500 worth of shabu.

Navales and his companions immediately pounced on Laude after she was seen handing over a pack of shabu to the poseur buyer.

Aside from the sachet of shabu, police also recovered three pieces long plastic sachets, four pieces medium plastic sachets, and another three pieces small size plastic sachets all believed to contain shabu.

Laude is now currently detained at the Danao City Police Station while waiting for the filing of charge for violation of Article II Sec. 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 against her.

The confiscated illegal drugs were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis. (FREEMAN)
