CIT grad places 3rd in mining engineer licensure exams
CEBU, Philippines - The CIT University has again produced a topnotcher in the recent mining engineer licensure examination conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission earlier this month.
Jan Karol Broniola ranked third in the list of 15 successful examinees with a percentage rating of 81.05.After he graduated with honors from CIT in Mining Engineering, Broniola went home to Claver, Surigao del Norte, and was elected councilor in the last May 10 elections.
The PRC announced that of the 30 examinees, only half of them passed the examination handled by the Board of Mining Engineering composed of Cornelio Casido as chairman and Rufino Bomasang and Augusto Villaluna as members.
The No. 1 topnotcher of the recent mining engineering examination was Elvira Pelleja with 82.20 percent rating followed by Ella Berjamin who got 81.55 percent rating. Both of them are graduates of the University of Diliman.
It was not the first time that a graduate of CIT University, formerly the Cebu Institute of Technology, finished near the top of a licensure exam.
The school was elevated to the list of premier higher education institutions in the Philippines after the Commission on Higher Education granted it university status last July 7.
The university status privilege was given in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994”, and by virtue of Resolution No. 165-2010 dated July 7, 2010 by the commission en banc because of the school’s good record.
In 1980, the Cebu City government awarded CIT as the Most Outstanding Private Institution of Learning and, again in 2008, as an Outstanding Institution. (THE FREEMAN)
