CEBU, Philippines - A policeman was arrested in Lapu-Lapu City for allegedly firing his gun indiscriminately after an argument with his estranged wife yesterday morning.
Police Officer 3 Alvin Quimbo, assigned in Talamban Police Station, is detained at the Lapu-Lapu City police while a criminal complaint for alarm and scandal is being prepared for filing today at the prosecutor’s office.
On top of the criminal complaint, Quimbo will also face an administrative investigation before the Internal Affairs Service.
SPO3 Jesus Gemenia of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said that Quimbo and his estranged wife had a heated argument yesterday morning.
Quimbo was reportedly demanding for the Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) of their multicab, which his wife took when she left him. Quimbo’s wife went to visit their children yesterday morning.
Because of the heated argument, Quimbo’s brother-in-law tried to pacify prompting the policeman to fire his gun, hitting one of the tires of the multicab.
Quimbo voluntarily surrendered to the responding policemen and also turned over his Caliber 45 pistol. Cebu City Police chief Patrocinio said they will leave the Lapu-Lapu City police to file the appropriate charges against Quimbo. (THE FREEMAN)
