Gwen says Vice Governors League not challenging her
CEBU, Philippines – The draft resolution showed by Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez last Tuesday did not come from the Vice Governors League, said Governor Gwendolyn Gar-cia, who added the league told her they will come up with their own stand that they will not interfere in local problems.
The resolution showed by Sanchez stated the league manifested indignation over, and protest against, the encroachment of the Cebu provincial government's executive department on the duties and responsibilities of the legislative department.
According to Garcia, Sanchez's visitors that day were just a handful of officers and not to be considered as the VGL since some of them are sugar planters from different provinces.
"The only reason according to them niadto kuno sila sa opisina sa bise gobernador kay giimbitar sila ngadto, namaligya na pud siguro ni si Sanchez sa iyang organic fertilizer. Gani ang iyang mga kuyog dili man to mga bise gobernador mga sugar planters man ang uban ato," she said, adding that the visitors were surprised when the media took their pictures and asked them questions.
The governor said that the League of Provinces is willing to pass a resolution supporting her if the VGL will intervene in their problems.
"Wa lang usa ko mangayo ana kay I don't think we should involve other people because I can very well take care of it on my level. All my actions are all de-fensible," she said.
She quoted VGL president Leonidos Fausto as saying they do not want to drag the league into this "local intramurals".
"All of them are trying to explain. Nahibung na lang sila nga na-starring na sila unya gigamit na ilang pangan. They could not even say that there was a league meeting. They were just handful kay nag-attend lagi sila intawn og infotech," she said.
The governor said that leagues will be fighting over someone who is just complaining because he can no longer sell his organic fertilizers through his organic consultants and his livelihood generation consultants.
One of the visitors reportedly confirmed that Sanchez was selling his organic fertilizers to them.
"Kahibaw man ta kinsa nga livelihood ilang gi-push. We should be more careful in monitoring the legislative assistance fund for it can be a source of abuse," she said. (FREEMAN)
