Sitoy wants to summon police, fire chiefs

CEBU, Philippines - Provincial Board member Arleigh Jay Sitoy wants the police and the fire department to apprise the members of the board on the recent spate of killings in the province as well as the capabilities of the local fire fighting units in the different municipalities.

Sitoy has proposed a resolution requesting the presence of Cebu Provincial Police chief Erson Digal and Provincial Fire Marshall Victor Vibares in the board.

Sitoy said they wanted to be apprised about the recent killings in the Metro Cebu. He cited the ambush of former Compostela mayor Joselito Reynes and the shooting to death of Joel Magale in Consolacion including the ambush of Engineer Ciriaco Salazar of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Sitoy also expressed concerns about the capability of the local firefighting units in the municipalities of the province following a huge fire in T. Padilla in Cebu City.

Sitoy wanted to know from Vibares the state of readiness of the fire department to respond to fire incidents in the province as well as to identify the fire hazard areas.

Sitoy stated in his proposed resolution that both appearances are meritorious and beneficial. (THE FREEMAN)
