Abandoned boy taken to hospital

CEBU, Philippines – Residents of barangay Opao in Mandaue City with the assistance of the police took a one-year-old boy, who had been abandoned by his parents to hospital.

The sickly boy was first brought by the personnel of the Women's Section of the Mandaue City police station to the Mandaue Hospital but was later transferred to the Eversly Child Sanitarrium Hospital in barangay Jagobiao in Mandaue City.

City Social Welfare Officer Violeta Cavada directed personnel of the department to closely coordinate with the police.

The police and the Women and Children Section of the police station are investigating the incident.

The identities of the boy and his parents are being withheld by the police for the time being. (THE FREEMAN)
