Jonas asks SP to review contract with towing firm
CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes yesterday said he has asked the city council to review the existing contract between the city government and Jadewell Parking Systems Corp. following several complaints lodged against its personnel.
Cortes told reporters that the city council in coordination with the City Legal Office should look into the company's operations and the legality of the contract.
He said he has also received reports that some motorcycles and other vehicles impounded for different violations were allegedly sold by Jadewell.
However, the mayor said these reports need to be verified.
He said there are also reports that Jadewell unreasonably tows away vehicles and fails to deploy parking attendants.
The complaints were raised by motorists who are residents in Mandaue City.
He said that if the allegations are true, the city's image would suffer.
"Daghan man gayud unya ang magtuo nga adunay pagtugot nato ang mga gihimo sa Jadewell ilabi na gayud sa atong mga motorista," Cortes said.
Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede, on other other hand, said the city council would prioritize the issue raised by the mayor. (FREEMAN NEWS)
