CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City council supports the plan to promote Mandaue City as an industrialized city and a good place for investments through the use of information technology.
Mandaue City Councilor Emmarie Ouano-Dizon said the city should update its official website (http.//mandauecity.gov.ph).
An approved proposed resolution introduced by Ouano-Dizon in the city council requests the Management Information System Office (MISO) and the Public Information Office to hasten the updating of the website.
According to Quano-Dizon, the information currently posted in the website does not accurately reflect the true state of the city.
She said the city has ties with other countries and other local government units which also want information about the city.
"It is paramount for the City Government of Mandaue to provide updated information to the general public," said Councilor Ouano-Dizon.
The councilor said that in these modern times, people across the globe rely heavily on the information posted on the internet.
The city council approved resolution further said that the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000 encourages the "use of electronic data messages or electronic documents among all government departments to include local government units.
It was learned that the Mandaue City Public Information Office is collating the information from various departments of the city prior to forwarding of the materials for uploading to the website by the Central Visayas Information Sharing Network Foundation, Inc. (CVISNET).
On the other hand, the Mandaue City Management Information System Office (MISO) has supervisory and operational control over all internet connectivity and data systems of the city. (THE FREEMAN)
