Man kills self after live-in partner refused him sex

CEBU, Philippines – Because his live-in partner refused to have sex with him the second time that night, a 26-year-old man hanged himself in their house at Sitio Cahipa Bacante, Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City.

Ariel Maningo was found lifeless by his common-law wife, 22-year-old Richell Paduga, at around four o'clock yesterday dawn.

A native of Barangay Argawanon, Bogo, Maningo worked at a local carnival (peryahan) while Paduga works as a comfort room attendant.           

Paduga revealed that hours before Maningo committed suicide, Maningo woke her up asking that they make love again. But Paduga said she refused his request because she was already tired.

Maningo got mad and went out of the room. He headed to the living room where Paduga found him later with a 15-feet long nylon rope tied around his neck, the other end tied to the house's wooden rafter.

Paduga asked the help of her sisters Riza and Melanie Paduga, who sought police assistance.

Maningo's body was taken to the San Fernando Funeral Homes for an autopsy. (THE FREEMAN)
