CEBU, Philippines – A man who was acting suspiciously was arrested by the patrolling police officers at Sitio Tapon, Barangay Napo, Carcar City, Cebu last Friday afternoon.
Danilo Cariguitan, 39, was caught by the members of Regional Public Safety Management Battalion based in Carcar City while they were conducting patrol.
Investigation revealed that when Cariguitan saw the patrolling team, he tried to avoid them. The team noticed Cariguitan acting suspiciously so they immediately approached Cariguitan.
When Cariguitan saw the approaching officers, he immediately emptied his pocket and threw some things beside the road. Police saw what Cariguitan did so they approached him and checked what he threw. When they saw beside Cariguitan some rolled tinfoil strips believed to be shabu paraphernalia, they conducted a body search and were able to confiscate four small heat-sealed transparent plastics containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, 29 rolled tin foil strips, one disposable lighter, and money amounting to P540.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the Carcar City Police Station and will be facing charges for violation of Sec. 11 and 12 of R.A. 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Just last week, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia declared an all-out war against illegal drugs. With Garcia being the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC), directors of various police offices and chiefs of police stations in Central Visayas are expected to follow her declaration to intensify their anti-illegal drive.
