Robbers take more than P50, 000 from Moalboal appliance store

CEBU, Philippines – A branch of Du Ek Sam appliance center in Barangay Poblacion, Moalboal town was robbed by unidentified men evening last Friday.

The store's collector, Epifanio Cabaron Jr., 26, told authorities he was passing by the store from the marketplace early morning last Saturday when he noticed the establishment's roll-up steel door was not closed properly. Suspicious of what he saw, he called the store manager, Jose Barrita, Jr. who immediately proceeded to the store.

They later discovered that the two padlocks of the steel door were already missing, as well as the lock of the entrance glass door. Inside, they found the steel vault containing P51,357 cash was also missing, but all the appliances were intact.

Police said it is possible that the suspects robbed the store when the rain was strongest last Friday evening so no one would notice them. Authorities also suspect that the suspects are not residents of the town and were really bent on taking just the money.

Du Ek Sam Marketing Inc. sells appliances such as television and radio. The incident is the first robbery in the town reported to the police this year. (THE FREEMAN)
