Sleepy multicab driver hits teenager in Carmen

CEBU, Philippines - Drowsiness was blamed after a teenager was hit by a multicab along the National Highway in sitio Bliss, Barangay Luyang, Carmen town Friday morning.

Mark Anthony Perez, 17, a student of the Carmen National High School and a resident of Barangay Catmon Daan, Catmon town, was accidentally hit by a multicab with license plate number GLB-916 driven by William Ordanez, 36, a native of Dumanjug town, Cebu and currently residing in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Investigation conducted by SPO1 Ricardo Enriquez, traffic investigator of Carmen, revealed that while the multicab was heading south, it suddenly swerved to the opposite direction hitting Perez who was waiting for a passenger jeepney on his way to Catmon.

Ordanez admitted that he fell asleep behind the wheel of his multicab that resulted to the said accident.

Perez sustained injuries in the different parts of his body and was rushed to the Danao City District Hospital before being taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Ordanez was brought to Carmen Police Station by the personnel of Sogod Police Station who happened to pass by the place at the time of the incident.

Ordanez is now detained at pending the filing of appropriate charges in court while the multicab is being held for proper disposition.    (FREEMAN NEWS)
