Councilor Ouano-Dizon joins majority bloc
CEBU, Philippines – City Councilor Emmarie “Lollipop” Ouano-Dizon has joined the majority bloc identified with Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes and, for that reason, she is no longer the minority floor leader in the Mandaue City council. That leaves Councilor Editha Cabahug the only one who will take the cudgels for the opposition in the council.
With the development, Councilor Elstone Dabon withdrew his motion for nomination after Dizon’s manifestation.
Ouano-Dizon said she was joining the administration party for the sake of unity.
“We cannot achieve unity and progress if we will not work as a group,” Ouano-Dizon said.
She believes that unity and cooperation can be achieved if she worked with the group. She said she was glad most members of the majority bloc invited her to join the party.
Ouano-Dizon said that last week she told Councilor Cabahug about her plan to join the administration party.
Cabahug, in a separate interview, said what Ouano-Dizon told her was her intention to drop her post as minority floor leader since she was still a neophyte in the council.
Cabahug said Ouano-Dizon did not say anything about joining the majority bloc.
But Dizon said she would have told her but Cabahug wouldn’t answer her cellular phone.
“Way problema ang iyang pagbali apan in my own opinion pabilin pa gihapon siya nga minority kay wa pa man siya mihural ngadto sa Liberal party ug wa pa sad siya mi-resign sa among partido,” Cabahug said. (THE FREEMAN)
