Sepulveda assures Capitol-owned vehicles are safe
CEBU, Philippines - The provincial government has assured that all province-owned vehicles, especially used by employees for activities in the barangays, are safe and properly maintained.
Capitol spokesman Rory Jon Sepulveda made the assurance in response to a resolution approved by the Provincial Board reminding Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to order province-owned vehicles to undergo road worthiness test.
Sepulveda said each department makes sure that the safety of its staff is not compromised when delivering basic services.
Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. and Board Member Arleigh Sitoy, the authors of the resolution, said all vehicles of the provincial government must be well-maintained.
Board Member Ian Caesar Geronimo Zambo also manifested that Capitol-owned vehicles owned be made to undergo road worthiness test and inspection by the Land Transportation Office before their registrations are renewed.
Sanchez said it is the responsibility of the provincial government to ensure that its personnel are safe when on board Capitol-owned vehicles.
Following the spate of road accidents involving public transport, Sanchez said there is also a need to test government vehicles to determine whether they are still road worthy. He said road worthiness tests should not only cover public transport. — THE FREEMAN
