Cebu City council commends Cokaliong Shipping Lines

- Rene U. Borromeo -

CEBU, Philippines -The city council approved en masse, the resolution sponsored by Councilor Edgardo Labella acknowledging the quality of service provided by the shipping company even if it is still new in the industry.

Labella said, Cokaliong Shipping Lines has already proven its worthiness to the riding public in the quality of service and the safety of passengers. Cokaliong Shipping Lines is just 20 years in the shipping industry.

According to Labella, for so many times, Cokaliong Shipping Lines has been commended and publicly acknowledged for its service improvements, particularly in the safety of lives and properties during sea travel.

Its vessels are servicing the various ports in the Visayas and Mindanao provinces everyday.

MARINA recognized the improvement of service of Cokaliong Shipping Lines and named it as the Domestic Shipping Company of the Year. It was also awarded as “Vessel of the Year” besting over 300 shipping companies last year.

The records show that during the inspection made by the members of the Port and Sea Safety Inspection Team the M/V Filipinas Ozamis was adjudged as the 2010 Cleanest Passenger Vessel.

Chester Cokaliong, the shipping company’s president and chief executive officer, personally received the award during the celebration of the Port and Safety Month in Iligan City last July 1.

Labella admired Cokaliong for his unselfish attitude when he ordered the officers and crewmembers of one of his vessels to assist the vessel of a competing shipping company that experienced engine trouble in the middle of the sea few months ago. (THE FREEMAN)
