Man wanted in killing of 4 persons finally arrested

CEBU, Philippines- After nine years of hiding, a man accused in the killing of at least four people, finally fell into the hands of authorities after he was arrested by the elements of the 7th Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (7RCIDU) yesterday afternoon in Sitio Alaska, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Ruben “Pidol” dela Victoria, 24, jobless, resident of the place, was nabbed by virtue of an alias warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 21 Judge Eric Menchavez for the case of murder.

Dela Victoria has been wanted for killing of James Mitchel Piquinto in January 2001, wherein a warrant of arrest was issued against him with no bail recommended.

Also, dela Victoria has also been accused in the murder of Roel Ylaya that transpired sometime in October 2003 on C. Padilla St., Sitio Alaska, Mambaling and for the murder of a certain alias “Intsik” and a certain alias “Jun- Jun” sometime in January 2005 in Barangay Cabreros, Tagunol, Cebu City.

The accused was arrested by the joint elements of the 7RCIDU led by Insp. Lirio Coral and the Philippine Air Force led by its commanding officer Maj. Floramante Alcala in the vicinity where he is residing.

Police said they received information that dela Victoria is staying in the area and after an extensive intelligence gathering and surveillance, the accused was finally arrested and is now under the custody of the 7RCDIU for proper documentation prior to his turn-over to the proper court.
