Lapu-Lapu City Police Office named best station in RP

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine National Police-Camp Crame has chosen the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office as the best police station in the country in environmental protection.

SPO1 Rodito Viovicente, a police non-commission officer of the Police Community Relations, received the recognition in behalf of the station during the observance of the 15th PCR Month in simple ceremonies held at Camp Crame recently.

Viovicente said the city police office has reaped what they have labored in terms of preserving the environment.

Among the environmental activities, which the station has carried out, are the rescue of endangered marine species, underwater clean up in coordination with the 41 members of the “Scubasurero” of the Lapu-lapu Police Trained Divers, mangrove planting, and feeding program in the island of Olango.

The 15th PCR Month is celebrated with the theme “Matatag na pagkakaisa ng Pambansang Pulisya at Mamamayan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.”

In his message, PNP chief Director General Jesus A. Verzosa said Police Community Relations is probably the only command function that requires more of public interaction than actual police work, and yet, it contributes immeasurably to the accomplishment of the mission.

In a separate interview, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Director P/SSupt. Mariano Natu-el Jr. said the city police will continue with their advocacy on the environment. – THE FREEMAN
