Owner demands full payment of lot bought by city for SRP

-

CEBU, Philippines - One of the lot owners affected by the construction of the South Road Properties is complaining about the alleged slow process in the release of payment for the lot bought by the city government.

Marie Jennifer Vitug Sildura, 37, legal successor of Luis Salabir, told The FREEMAN that the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) reportedly told her that the budget intended for the payment of the lot was re-aligned for another project.

But DWUP chief Engr. Danilo Gabiana said the payment of the remaining half was delayed also because of the lot owners themselves. Gabiana said they cannot release the money unless they can transfer the title to the city government completely.

“Sila ra man ang nagdugay-dugay,” Gabiana said.

Still, Sildura insists they have completed the necessary documents on the last week of May.

Meanwhile, DWUP already endorsed to Councilor Jose Daluz, chairman of the City Council Budget and Finance, the inclusion of the payment for the properties in the next Supplemental Budget.

The city government at least 200 square meters of the 444 square meter property owned by Luis Salabir for which it paid P903,210. For now, only P451,605 has been given.

Aside from Sildura, there are still two remaining lot owners who have completed the documentary requirements, but are yet to receive full payment from the city government.

The SRP was officially launched last May 8 complete with day-long activities, party, and a fireworks display. — Clea Lhyle P. Ompad and Razel V. Cuizon /JMO (THE FREEMAN)
