Overheating electric fan blamed for fire

CEBU, Philippines - An overheating electric fan was alleged to have caused the fire that burned down a house in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Atelano Beredo of the Lapu-Lapu City fire department said the fire that destroyed the house Miriam Gevero was renting started at 8:04 in the morning.

No one was reported hurt.

Initial investigation revealed that an overheated electric fan was found in the home, Beredo said.

Arson investigators placed the damage to property at P45,000.

Last month, fire destroyed a house in barangay Pajo. An unplugged television set was blamed for the fire.

The fire department said that among the common causes of fire include unattended appliances, faulty electrical wiring, and unattended candles.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
