DPWH worker stabbed
CEBU, Philippines - A construction worker employed under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7 was ambushed by the godfather of his child in V. Rama St., Barangay Calamba, Cebu City shortly before noon yesterday.
Wilfredo Cuizon, 33, was stabbed by Danilo Amance, 36, a tire man of a vulcanizing shop. Amance was reportedly avenging his friend who had a quarrel with Cuizon over their jobs.
PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said that Cuizon was drinking with his friends and neighbors outside his house when he decided to go to the house of his cousin nearby to get food.
He was on his way there when the suspect, a resident of Urgello St., Barangay Sambag 2, shot him three times. He was hit once on his shoulder and was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.
Amance, on the other hand, was arrested by policemen under Task Force Motorsiklo led by PO3 Brazilio Borinaga who were patrolling the area. A home-made .38 snub nose revolver with live ammunition was recovered from him.
Three empty shells of the same caliber of firearm were also found at the crime scene.
Batucan said that both the victim and the suspect were drunk that time.
The suspect was detained at the Cebu City Police Office stockade and was subjected to a paraffin test while appropriate charges are now being prepared against him. Batucan said Cuizon allegedly had a verbal altercation the previous night with a certain “Jerry,” who also works in the same vulcanizing shop where Cuizon works.
“Magkumpare na’ng biktima ug suspect. Mipalit man ug away ang suspect. Puro sad mga hubog,” Batucan added. (The victim and the suspect are friends and they were both drunk.) (FREEMAN NEWS)
