Sixty one marijuana stalks uprooted in Balamban

- Lesley Caminade-Vestil -

CEBU, Philippines - Members of Balamban police scored anew on the fight against illegal drugs, particularly marijuana, which has been reported to be widely cultivated in the area.

Last Tuesday morning, the town’s police chief, Chief Insp. Januario Sario and his men uprooted a total of 61 fully grown marijuana stalks in Barangay Cabasiangan.

Sario’s team was doing a visitation of the barangays, when, upon reaching Sitio Udlom, of the said barangay, they spotted what seemed to be a marijuana plantation. Upon confirmation that they are indeed marijuana plants, the police team immediately uprooted them.

The police could not yet say who owns the marijuana plantation as no one was around when they arrived at the area. Further investigation is being conducted to determine the owner of the lot where the marijuana plants were planted and identify the possible cultivator of the plants.

The uprooted marijuana stalks were brought to Balamban Police Station for evidentiary purposes.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
