CEBU, Philippines - Incoming Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said her government will prioritize programs pertaining to health, education, business, tourism, and drainage system.
This afternoon, Radaza will deliver her inaugural address before the 15 members of the 12th city council, employees, and other guests.
“I will be focusing on health, education, business sector, tourism, and drainage system,” Radaza told The FREEMAN, adding that her husband, three-term former mayor and now Congressman Arturo Radaza, has already laid down the groundwork for this vision.
In tourism, Radaza said the promotion of the city as a tourist destination shall be intensified in coordination with the business sector and various stake holders.
Lapu-Lapu City plays a significant part in Philippine and world history, being the place where Magellan met his death.
Today, the city boasts having the country’s second busiest airport, the Mactan International Airport.
Because of its beautiful beaches and great diving spots, Lapu-Lapu also plays host to an array of first class resort hotels which attract visitors from all over the world.
Mayor Radaza also believes that education is a right residents should enjoy.
Radaza said there will be no reorganization of departments but the performance of contractual workers would be examined.
“No reorganization, no department heads and employees will be removed. Di man ta ganahan nga mawagtangan sila og trabaho pero atong tan-awon ilabi na kaning contractual ang ilang performance,” Radaza said.
