Alleged brains behind ambush out on bail

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - The alleged mastermind of the ambush of a marketing manager of Taiheiyo Cement was released yesterday after Regional Trial Court judge Meinrado Paredes signed his release order after he posted bail.

Jerome Noel paid a surety bond of P240,000 for his temporary liberty.

He was charged with illegal possession of firearms, attempted murder and possession of illegal drugs with a total recommended bond of P400,000.

Noel offered bail but due to the delay of signing he was brought by the arresting officer to the Cebu City Jail together with other accused Orlando Sagnoy and Roberto Tercero.

Sagnoy and Tercero will remain at the jail after they decided not to post bail saying they cannot afford the bail recommended for their temporary liberty.

Nestor Zamoras was driving his white Ford Everest to an uptown mall around noon last Thursday to have lunch when he was shot at.

He said a motorcycle with two men on board tailed him, then overtook him in Barangay Kamputhaw and stopped a few meters ahead. Then the passenger pulled out a gun and shot at him.

He was saved by the bulletproofing of his vehicle.

The shooter, later identified as Sagnoy, and the driver, Tercero, would later be arrested separately by responding policemen.

Sagnoy has pointed to Noel as the mastermind of the crime. – THE FREEMAN
