Cop sued over MEZ gun pointing incident

-

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman assigned at the Police Regional Office-7 is now in hot water for pointing his gun at fellow policemen and security guards in Mactan Export Zone in Lapu-Lapu City.

MEZ police commander Col. Gerardo Necesito said that lawyer Ranolfo San Juan is now preparing the charges against PO1 Alex Baquerquer for allegedly pointing a gun at three fellow policemen and nine security guards in MEZ.

The administrative case will be filed before the PRO-7.

The incident occurred last Wednesday when Baquerquer was allegedly drunk and went to MEZ around 7 p.m. looking for police investigator, Sgt. Senen Subario, who filed charges against him for allegedly harassing security personnel last May 29.

In the previous incident, Baquerquer reportedly pointed a gun at three security guards after he was prevented from entering the gate because his motorcycle did not have the MEZ sticker.

Last Wednesday, the drunken Baquerquer allegedly went back to MEZ and pointed a gun against security Anselmo Faustino. The latter alerted his two colleagues when Baquerquer went inside the MEZ compound but they failed to apprehend the police officer after he pointed a gun at them and threatened to kill them if they insist in asking for his identification card.— Garry B.
