Gullas vows to build water reservoir in San Fernando
CEBU, Philippines - With the water system already in place in one of the barangays of San Fernando town, first district Rep. Eduardo R. Gullas has promised to put up a reservoir in the area so that neighboring barangays can also benefit from the project.
Gullas, in his speech during the ceremonial ribbon cutting of barangay Balud’s water system the other day, said he will fund the water reservoir project, which he hopes “to start right away.”
The congressman, who was reelected for a third term, has appointed outgoing San Fernando Mayor Lakambini “Neneth” Reluya as head of his district extension office in San Fernando to ensure that their projects will not be disregarded by the new administration.
Reluya, a one-term executive chief, ran for reelection last May but was defeated by the present Vice Mayor Antonio Canoy. She has however filed an election protest, citing the use of force and the discrepancy in the number of votes counted, which is now pending at the Commission on Elections.
The new water system was the project supported by Gullas, Reluya, and barangay Balud through its chief Rely Enad.
Initially, the barangay will sell water coming from the facility for P100 per cubic meter, Enad said.
The service however will be “limited” to the barangay and parts of the neighboring villages of Greenhills and Sangat, while the reservoir is yet to be constructed, he said.
Balud is about 200 meters from the highway, leading to the town hall. (FREEMAN NEWS)
