3 men fall for drug possession

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - Police confiscated six plastic packs of suspected shabu from three men in separate operations against illegal activities in Cebu City late evening last Monday.

Barangay tanods of Ermita arrested Jeffrey Barbon, 22, of Barangay Pasil after three packs of suspected shabu were seized from his possession.

Nemesio Rupinta, the chief tanod, reportedly received a tip from a reliable informant that a man, later identified as Barbon, was seen holding a tissue paper with decks of shabu and drug paraphernalia at the interior portion of their barangay.

The tanods then positioned near the barangay hall and waited for the suspect to pass. When the suspect finally passed by them, they confronted him, but the suspect allegedly ran.

The tanods chased after him and eventually arrested him. The packs of shabu and two rolled tin foils wrapped with a tissue paper were also recovered from him.

In a separate incident, operatives of the Special Operation Group were conducting preventive patrol against robbery at North Reclamation Area when they spotted a man scampering.

This prompted the team to chase the man, who later identified himself as Badjiek Pabon, 21. Pabon, a resident of Barangay Carreta, reportedly failed to present any credentials to establish his identity.

A fan knife locally known as “batangas” and two sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from him when he was subjected to body search and frisking.

Meanwhile, operatives of the City Intelligence Branch chanced upon Tomas Baguio, 39, in Barangay T. Padilla who was allegedly in possession of a small pack of shabu.

The three suspects are under detention while awaiting the formal filing of charges against them.    (FREEMAN NEWS)
