Man feels useless, takes own life before Father's Day
CEBU, Philippines - A 35-year-old man was found dead inside his residence in Barangay Poblacion, Santander last Saturday afternoon, just hours before Fathers Day.
No less than his family found Patrick Jesus Idrial hanging from the ceiling with a belt around his neck. Responding policemen brought him to the district hospital in the neighboring town of Oslob, but Idrial was declared dead on arrival.
According to PO2 Noel Stender of the Santander Police, Idrial’s family told him Idrial had been saying he felt “useless” as a husband and a father. His family also said they have heard the victim saying he would commit suicide, but never took the statement seriously.
Idrial and his wife have reportedly quarreled often because the victim could not get a job.
There was a time when Idrial reportedly got hooked to illegal drugs and had spent time in jail for allegedly punching and threatening to hack his wife. He was later released after his wife forgave him. — THE FREEMAN
