Capitol sets aside P29M for public school supplies
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government allocated P104 million for the purchase of school supplies for public elementary and high school students and the teachers since 2006 up to this year for municipalities and cities of Cebu province, Capitol Spokesman Rory Jon Sepulveda said yesterday.
This school year’s allocation alone reached P29 million.
Sepulveda presented to reporters the summary of cost of school supplies purchased by the provincial government since school year 2006-2007 up to school year 2010-2011. The amount was released through the Provincial School Board.
For school year 2006-2007, the provincial government approved a budget totaling P17,463,960.76 for the purchase of school supplies for elementary pupils and teachers and document bags for supervisors.
The same document said that during school year 2007-2008, the provincial government also allocated P13,878,163 for the purchase of school supplies for elementary pupils and teachers.
For the school year 2008-2009, the provincial government allocated P22,161,557.60 for the purchase of school supplies for elementary and secondary pupils, students and teachers except in the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Cebu.
For 2009-2010, the allocation reaches to P21,628,270.07, for the purchase of school supplies for Prep, elementary, secondary students and teachers.
This year, the provincial government approved an amount of P29,187,504.67 for the purchase of school supplies for Prep, elementary, high school and teachers.
Meanwhile, Sepulveda said an inventory of the school supplies available for distribution next month was released by the acting Provincial General Services officer Bernard Calderon.
According to Sepulveda, the school supplies worth P1.6 million are presently deposited at the Cebu International Convention Center.
“Tanang mga school supplies properly accounted na, ang atong gibuhat karon mao ang pag-distribute unya ani,” said Sepulveda. — THE FREEMAN
