CEBU, Philippines - A worker of a forwarding company detailed at a firm located at MEPZ in Lapu-Lapu City was shot to death last Tuesday evening in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City but the motive for the killing has not been established.
Rossman Guaves, 25, single, of barangay Baring, Carmen town, and who was just recently hired by U-Freight Philippines Inc. and assigned at Lexmark, was last seen with two men walking in a dimly lighted interior in the barangay.
Several minutes later, residents nearby heard three gunshots.
PO3 Joselito Catabas of the Homicide section of the Mandaue City Police Office said residents in the area saw Guaves with two companions engaged in a heated exchange of words while walking.
The argument only stopped when one of Guaves’ companions bought a softdrink at a nearby store. The heated discussion continued as they resumed their walking.
A few minutes after three gunshot were heard, Guaves was seen lifeless on the ground while his two companions were nowhere to be found.
Guaves sustained gunshot wounds on the head.
Catabas said the police are not discounting robbery behind the killing.
Guaves’ wallet and cellular phone were missing.
The company Guaves worked for believed the man had no money at the time he was killed because he forgot to get his new ATM card.
Catabas said Guaves had been working for the company for barely a month.
Yesterday, a brother brought photos of some of Guaves’ friends who often called him prior to his death.
The police took the photos to witnesses for identification purposes.
Guaves’ body was taken to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes for autopsy. (FREEMAN NEWS)
