- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - A case was filed before the Regional Trial Court against a 39-year-old Korean national who was accused of mauling his Filipina live-in partner two years ago.

Lee Mon Bok of Almasiga Street, La Paloma, Labangon, Cebu City is now facing charges for the violation of Republic Act No. 9262, otherwise known as the law on Violence Against Women, filed by his live-in partner, Elizabeth Y. Lagahit, 26, a resident of Alaska Mambaling.

In her affidavit, Lagahit stated that at around midnight on December 18, 2008, Lee confronted her without any reason and slapped, kicked and boxed her several times at their rented apartment in La Paloma, Labangon.

After the incident, she went to the Punta Princesa Police Station to seek for assistance.

The Punta police immediately brought Lagahit to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Cebu City Police Office. Lagahit was also brought to the hospital for examination.

Prosecutor Eulogio B. Borres Jr. subpoenaed Lee to answer the allegation against him but the Korean national cannot be anymore located at his residence.

Finding probable cause, Borres then elevated the case to the RTC and recommended a bail of P40,000 for Lee’s temporary liberty.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
