CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old woman committed suicide yesterday at around 11:00 a.m in Sitio Eskoylahan, Brgy. Buhisan, Cebu, City.
Mary Ann Daitol was found hanging inside her room.
In a report to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the victim’s mother, Marcelina Itang, 68, narrated that she told her grandson to check on his mother at their house.
Itang later heard her grandson cry, prompting her to have a look of what was happening. The door to Daitol’s room was locked but it could be seen from outside that she was already hanging from the ceiling, a 60-inch nylon rope around her neck.
Jomar Librada, 24, habal-habal driver and live-in partner of the victim, disclosed that he and Daitol had an argument over personal matters. He added that the victim had previous attempts of suicide.
Daitol was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) but she was declared dead on arrival.
PO2 Idario Manatad of the Homicide Section said that there was no evidence or trace of foul play from the scene. However, they still need to do an autopsy at the San Fernando Funeral Homes. — Lorlaine Joy Olorvida and Jen-jen Raymundo Palompon Institute of Technology Interns/JPM (FREEMAN NEWS)
