CEBU, Philippines - Two men were injured after a man shot them yesterday morning at Barangay Agbanga, Asturias, Cebu.

Frederick Rojo Sangutan, 32, and his brother Jestoni, 18, was shot by one Renante Molde Ompong, 20 of Barangay Bairan, Asturias.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Asturias Police Station, the two victims were fixing the engine of their motorcycle at the roadside when Ompong appeared behind them with a gun.

Witnesses said that Ompong shouted at the two, saying, “Isog man mo sa inyong lugar, karon inyo man ni lugar.”

Ompong then fired his gun three times hitting the neck of Frederick and the left chest and right knee of Jestoni.

Both were rushed to the Balamban Provincial Hospital but were referred later to a hospital in Cebu City.

Responding police officers immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect. However, they failed to recover the gun used in the shooting.

Ompong is now detained at the police station.

In Boljoon, Cebu, Edwin Romaguera, 30, was stabbed by his elder brother, Romeo, with the use of a knife measuring 37 centimeters.

Witnesses said that the two argued because Romeo got angry with Edwin for using his scythe without permission.

Edwin was rescued by the responding police officers led by SPO2 Carlito Amarillo inside their house and was brought to Oslob District Hospital while the suspect voluntarily surrendered and was brought to the police station.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
